Roussillon: Where small winemakers make huge wines.

In the Roussillon the wine producers are all small family operations shoehorned between the Pyrenees and the Med. This region was for many years mostly known for fortified wines and these are still amazing. Similar in some ways to the Douro, there has been a transformation to making dry wines and the results are mighty. Expect mostly Grenache, Grenache Gris and Grenache Blanc and If you are lucky, Macabeu.
